The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially approved a budget of N17.6 billion for its activities in the upcoming 2025 season. The approval was granted during the NFF Congress held in Asaba, the Delta State capital, on Friday.
According to reports from sportsvillagesquare.com, the approved budget translates to approximately $10,591,610 at the current exchange rate. This budget exceeds the N12 billion allocated for Nigeria’s participation in the Paris 2024 Olympics, where the country did not secure any medals. In contrast, Team Nigeria achieved notable success in the Paralympic Games, bringing home a total of nine medals, including five gold.
The NFF’s program for the next year is ambitious and includes crucial fixtures and tournaments, such as six remaining qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup, the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, the Morocco 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, and the African Nations Championship (CHAN), scheduled to take place in December and February, contingent on the qualification of the Super Eagles and CHAN Eagles.
In addition to approving the budget, the Congress commended the national teams, particularly the Super Eagles, for their silver medal achievement at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, and the Super Falcons for their participation in the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament after a 16-year absence.
The Congress also passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of the Executive Committee, led by Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, for their ongoing efforts to promote football development across Nigeria.
