The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has been honored with the IPRA Golden World Award (GWA) in the Crisis Management category for its outstanding public relations campaign, “100 Days of Impactful PR at Customs Service.” This announcement comes ahead of the official IPRA Golden World Awards ceremony, scheduled for October 18, 2024, in Belgrade, Serbia.

In a letter to Mr. Adewale Adeniyi, Comptroller General of the NCS, Philip Sheppard, IPRA’s Secretary General, congratulated the service for its exceptional achievement. The award recognizes the effectiveness of NCS’s strategic communication efforts, developed in partnership with Image Merchants Promotion Limited. The campaign successfully addressed and navigated the challenges faced by the Customs Service during a significant period of reform and transition.

Sheppard noted, “This achievement reflects the high standards of excellence in public relations practice demonstrated by the Nigeria Customs Service,” highlighting how the campaign enhanced the organization’s image, built public trust, and effectively managed crises through targeted communication strategies.

Established in 1990, the IPRA Golden World Awards is a prestigious global recognition in public relations, honoring outstanding campaigns across 60 categories, including crisis management, digital communications, and corporate responsibility. Each year, the awards culminate in the presentation of an overall IPRA Grand Prize for Excellence to the best campaign exemplifying the highest standards of public relations.

As part of this honor, the Nigeria Customs Service and its team have been invited to attend the awards ceremony at the Metropol Palace Hotel in Belgrade. The event will celebrate the best practices in public relations worldwide and provide a platform for winners to share their innovative approaches to communication and crisis management.

This accolade not only marks a significant milestone for the NCS but also showcases the increasing recognition of Nigerian institutions on the global stage for their impactful contributions to public relations and crisis communication.
