The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), in collaboration with Trade Modernization Project Limited (TMP), has announced the deployment of a new Information Technology Communication (ICT) system aimed at enhancing its operations. Comptroller General of Customs, Mr. Adewale Adeniyi, shared this development with reporters at the Port Terminal Multiple Services Limited (PTML) in Lagos, emphasizing that the initiative is part of the agency’s broader reforms program to improve efficiency.

Adeniyi noted that the partnership with TMP has resulted in a homegrown IT system, which he hopes will eventually be exported to other regions globally. He expressed his enthusiasm for the roll-out of “B’Odogwu,” the new Unified Customs Management System, describing it as a significant milestone in the modernization of Nigeria’s customs operations and its alignment with international best practices.

“This exercise is firmly rooted in the policy thrust of the NCS Management upon my assumption of office, which emphasizes the need to consolidate on previous gains while boldly embracing innovative solutions to long-standing challenges,” Adeniyi stated.

He highlighted that this initiative aligns with the strategic objectives of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, aimed at making the NCS more effective and efficient for the benefit of Nigerians. The support for this initiative has been facilitated by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, further demonstrating the government’s commitment to enhancing customs processes through cutting-edge technology
