NIGERIA CUSTOMS SERVICE CHARGES NEW TRAINEES ON GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Mr. Adewale Adeniyi, has urged the newly inaugurated students of Junior Course 20 to fully engage in their training to enhance their contributions toward safeguarding national borders and maintaining the integrity of Nigeria’s economy. Speaking at the Command and Staff College in Gwagwalada, Abuja, Adeniyi emphasized the importance of the knowledge and skills they would acquire during their training.

Represented by Deputy Comptroller General of Customs, Mr. Suleiman Bomai, Adeniyi stated that the Service has made arrangements to implement various policies aimed at skill enhancement through different initiatives. He encouraged the students to view their training as a valuable opportunity for personal and professional growth.

“This ceremony marks a significant tradition in the history of our esteemed institution and reinforces the core values of dedication, discipline, and continuous development that have long been the pillars of the Nigeria Customs Service,” he said.

Adeniyi urged participants to generate new ideas and innovations to facilitate the transformation of the Service. He emphasized the need for them to seize the opportunity for growth, saying, “You are the future of the Nigeria Customs Service, and the knowledge you gain here will empower you to carry the torch forward. Make the most of this experience and rise to the challenges ahead.”

He encouraged students to view their facilitators as role models and to take an active role in their studies and welfare. He assured them of the CGC’s support for any officer seeking to enhance their capabilities and expressed confidence that they would contribute positively to the Service’s transformation.

Assistant Comptroller-General Kingsley Egwuh, the Commandant of the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College Gwagwalada, highlighted the course as essential for participants’ progression in their careers. He encouraged them to build confidence and competence in areas like revenue generation, trade facilitation, and national security, stating that the program prepares them for increased responsibilities within the Service.
