“Ndoma-Egba Denies Endorsing Cross River State House of Assembly Speaker Amidst Controversy”

Former Majority Leader of the National Assembly, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, has refuted claims of endorsing any candidate for the position of Speaker in the Cross River State House of Assembly. The denial follows the recent upheaval in the Assembly, where Elvert Ayambem was allegedly removed by 17 out of 25 lawmakers over allegations of financial misconduct.

Amidst speculations that Ndoma-Egba might be backing Mr. Kingsley Ntui, representing the Etung state constituency, for the Speaker’s position, the former Majority Leader clarified his stance. Ntui hails from Cross River Central, akin to Ndoma-Egba’s constituency, while the ousted Ayambem is from the same Ikom LGA as Ndoma-Egba.

Through his media aide, Sunny Udeh, Ndoma-Egba informed journalists that he hasn’t officially endorsed any candidate for the Speaker’s role. He dispelled rumors circulating on social media, cautioning against misinformation and urging the public to refrain from conjecture.

Given that Ndoma-Egba is not a member of the Cross River State House of Assembly, he emphasized that he lacks the authority to dictate the Assembly’s leadership. He expressed concern over the recent developments in the House and urged for a swift and amicable resolution for the benefit of the state.

Highlighting the fragile political climate, Ndoma-Egba stressed the importance of stability, particularly as Cross River State transitions under the leadership of Senator Bassey Otu. He underscored the need for unity and cooperation among leaders to advance the state’s interests and ensure continued progress.
