The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a massive haul of 2.4 million tramadol pills in Gombe State. This operation, based on credible intelligence, took place on September 14, 2024, when NDLEA operatives arrested three suspects traveling on Bauchi-Gombe road in a truck marked GME 552 ZU. The drugs were concealed under bags of salt.

In a related development, on September 10, 23-year-old Idris Adamu was arrested with 41.5 kg of cannabis sativa in Kachia, Kaduna State. Additionally, two more suspects, Godiya Jikuk (36) and Yusuf Umaru (65), were apprehended in Ekiti State with 73.6 kg of cannabis on September 11.

NDLEA also seized 208,920 pills of tramadol and diazepam from Chinedu Asadu (35) in Bauchi on September 13. On September 10, operatives in Lagos State recovered 104 kg of cannabis from suspects Abba Abdullahi and Mustapha Yahaya on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Further investigations at the Tincan Port in Lagos led to the discovery of 350,000 bottles of Codeine-based syrup, shipped from India. This was uncovered during a joint operation with Nigeria Customs Service and other security agencies on September 10.

These operations form part of NDLEA’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking across Nigeria.
