The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) announced the arrest of Mrs. Adewunmi Dorcas, an Ibadan-based businesswoman, and Arinze Ora, an auto parts dealer, for attempting to export opioids and cocaine to London, UK, and Congo Brazzaville, respectively.

On September 6, 2024, NDLEA operatives at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, intercepted a cargo destined for the UK. A search revealed 924 bottles of codeine-based syrup and 5,250 tablets of Rohypnol hidden in cartons of foodstuffs. Freight agent Owojori Sunday, who presented the cargo, was arrested. Investigations led to the arrest of Mrs. Adewunmi Dorcas in Ibadan, who was involved in the export operation.

On September 11, 2024, a separate operation at the Lagos airport uncovered 300 grams of cocaine concealed in checkers powder custard and auto spare parts bound for Congo Brazzaville. Arinze Ora, who sent the consignment, was subsequently arrested.

Further arrests included Ikechukwu and Ugochukwu Ikeabba, who were involved in drug trafficking to Vietnam, and two other businessmen, Ibeanusi Nosike and Paul Mbadugha, who were caught ingesting cocaine for export.
