Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Worldwide has expressed confidence that the recent increase in petrol prices will lead to positive changes in Nigeria’s economy, in line with the Federal Government’s ongoing economic policies. The Acting National Leader of the group, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, praised the Federal Government’s efforts to reform the petroleum sector and stated that the petrol price hike is part of these transformative measures.

Okpalaezeukwu attributed the previous fuel crises to poor governance and mismanagement by past administrations, not to the current administration under President Bola Tinubu. Following a 52nd Extraordinary National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja, Okpalaezeukwu highlighted that the group’s discussions included a productive engagement with the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, and his team.

He noted the importance of continuous reform and policy implementation to benefit the ordinary people and enhance Nigeria’s overall well-being. The group acknowledged the challenges of removing subsidies and infrastructure issues, yet expressed pride in the achievements of President Tinubu’s administration, such as increased crude oil production.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Worldwide affirmed their support for the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and related agencies. They called for enhanced community and youth engagement to mitigate restiveness and address issues like sabotage and theft in the sector, committing to active participation in development activities and programs to maximize impact.
