The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has introduced a new training program focused on emotional intelligence for its staff to improve public management. Acting Director General of the NCAA, Captain Chris Najomo, emphasized the importance of emotional regulation for effective teamwork in the aviation sector.

Najomo highlighted that fostering good working relationships based on trust and collaboration is essential for smooth operations and ensuring passenger safety. During a visit from the Global Transport Policy delegation in Lagos, represented by Bukola Teriba, Najomo outlined that the training would develop skills in emotional self-awareness, self-regulation, and empathetic feedback among other competencies.

Najomo stated, “The NCAA, as the apex regulatory body in the aviation sector, recognizes the importance of staying ahead in its role. This training series will play a crucial role in achieving that by equipping our personnel with emotional intelligence skills, thereby enhancing service delivery and providing a better experience for travelers.”

Dr. Segun Musa, Managing Director/Chief Consultant of Global Transport Policy, presented an award to Najomo in recognition of his significant reforms since taking office. Musa praised the training initiative as part of Global Transport Policy’s corporate social responsibility, noting, “The award reflects Najomo’s commitment to excellence and his dedicated efforts to bring about positive change in the aviation industry.”
