“We have recorded perceptible growth in our economy and our gross domestic products (GDP). We have continued to sustain our unity and belief in the social fabric of our nation.”

However, he acknowledged significant challenges that test the nation’s resolve, including security issues, economic growth, national cohesion, and infrastructure development. Jonathan stressed the importance of:

  • Strengthening institutions to foster inclusive economic growth.
  • Developing a democratic culture that supports free and fair elections.
  • Recommitting to principles of justice, equity, and inclusion.

He urged Nigerians to harness their diversity and leverage their youth’s potential to build a prosperous nation, stating:

“With a common purpose, zeal and love for one another, we can overcome our challenges and build a prosperous nation of our collective dreams, where every citizen has equal opportunities to thrive.”
