The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has launched a three-day operation in Bauchi State to remove counterfeit Milo chocolate drinks from local markets.
DETAILS OF THE OPERATION
Dr. Paul Kamai, the State Director of NAFDAC, announced that the agency has begun inspections of markets and superstores in Bauchi to eliminate fake Milo products. This initiative follows a directive from NAFDAC headquarters and aims to protect consumers from potentially harmful counterfeit goods.
ADDITIONAL MEASURES
In addition to the Milo crackdown, NAFDAC will also address issues related to agrochemical use. The agency plans to meet with agrochemical dealers to discuss the risks associated with banned chemicals like Dictholoruvis and Paraquat, especially as the harvest period approaches.
REGULATORY REMINDERS
Kamai reminded bakers and packaged water producers to renew their licenses within the required two-year timeframe. Failure to do so could result in penalties affecting their business operations. He also encouraged small and medium enterprises to register their products with NAFDAC to ensure their integration into Nigerian markets.
PUBLIC SAFETY INITIATIVE
This operation is part of NAFDAC’s broader efforts to ensure product safety and integrity in the Nigerian market, safeguarding consumers from fraudulent and potentially dangerous products.
