The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commenced the airlifting of election materials for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in preparation for the Edo governorship election scheduled for Saturday, September 21. Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, confirmed this development in a statement on Wednesday, September 18.

The operation is part of a coordinated effort to ensure the secure and timely delivery of sensitive materials needed for the election. According to the statement, “This airlift operation demonstrates the collaboration between NAF and INEC, aimed at facilitating logistics and ensuring a peaceful election process in Edo State.”

The support follows a meeting between Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, and INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, where Abubakar reaffirmed NAF’s commitment to assisting in the electoral process. The airlift highlights the cooperation between the military and civil authorities in promoting democracy and ensuring the smooth conduct of the election.
