The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released the results for the June/July 2024 In-School National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) exams. Out of 67,751 candidates who sat for the exams, 44,000 candidates, representing 65.35%, scored five credits or more, including Mathematics and English Language.

Acting Registrar, Dr. Nnasia Ndareke Asanga, announced that 62,235 candidates (92.42%) obtained five credits and above, either with or without Mathematics and English. The examination was conducted across 1,708 centers nationwide.

Asanga emphasized the need for legislative support, capacity building for technical education teachers, better funding, and improved equipment to enhance Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs. He highlighted the role of TVET in addressing unemployment in today’s innovation-driven economy.

However, this year’s performance is lower than the 2023 results, and 349 candidates were involved in examination malpractice. Asanga lamented that such practices undermine educational integrity and hinder students’ development of essential skills like critical thinking and problem-solving.

NABTEB continues to fulfill its mandate by conducting exams and skill-based assessments, awarding certificates in business, vocational, and technical education.
