Yahaya Faruq, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, has been reported missing since Monday, October 14, 2024, after going to work at his primary place of assignment. The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Edo Central Area Council, has expressed deep concern over his sudden disappearance.
Faruq was serving at the Mixed Secondary School in Ikuru Town, located in the Adoni Local Government Area of Rivers State. In addition to his teaching role, he was reportedly working part-time at the LDM Chinese Milling Company in the same area.
In a statement released in Port Harcourt, the organization stated, “We are devastated and heartbroken to announce the sudden and mysterious disappearance of our beloved brother, Yahaya Faruq, a dedicated corps member serving at Mixed Secondary School, Ikuru Town.”
The group highlighted that Faruq signed in for his shift at the milling company but failed to sign out, leaving behind numerous unanswered questions and causing immense anxiety for his family, friends, and colleagues. The situation intensified when LDM Chinese Milling Company returned his belongings, including his bag and phone, to his primary assignment, raising further concerns about his safety.
The Muslim Students’ Society has called for assistance, prayers, and empathy from the public to help locate Faruq and ensure his safe return. “Every passing moment is agonizing,” they added, appealing to the community for support in their search.
