Africa Magic, under the MultiChoice group, has unveiled a new Nollywood trilogy titled My Fairytale Wedding, set to premiere in 2024. The announcement was made during the 2024 Fame Week Africa.
My Fairytale Wedding is a three-part romantic comedy that explores the experiences of contemporary African women. The story follows a 29-year-old woman who, in her quest for love, turns to a magical love potion known as ‘kayanmata,’ obtained from a wealthy vendor.
The film features Uzor Arukwe and Lilian Esoro in lead roles, portraying characters navigating modern romance, relationship complexities, and Nigerian wedding customs.
The official logline describes the trilogy as delivering “love, laughter and a sprinkle of magic,” providing “a refreshing reimagining of classic fairy tales” with an African twist, set against the vibrant backdrop of Lagos, Nigeria.
Busola Tejumola, Head of Content and Channels at MultiChoice West Africa, emphasized the film’s innovative approach. “In conceptualising and producing My Fairytale Wedding, we aimed to bring something fresh and authentic to the screen – a fun and light-hearted exploration of modern love that resonates deeply with our audience,” she said.
The movie will be predominantly in English, with a mix of indigenous Nigerian languages and pidgin English.
