Following allegations of N3 billion fraud against the National Assembly chapter leadership of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment has summoned both PASAN’s executive and some aggrieved members to a meeting.
The meeting invitation, signed by Amos Falonipe, Director/Registrar of Trade Union Services and Industrial Relations on behalf of the Minister, refers to a petition titled, “Petition Against the Misappropriation of Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, PASAN, National Assembly Chapter and Threats of Suspension of Members.”
Earlier this month, Yusuf Abiola, a PASAN member, publicly accused the PASAN National Assembly leadership of misappropriating union funds and demanded audited financial statements and operational reports from 2019 to date. He further pledged to petition relevant authorities for action.
However, PASAN’s National Assembly Chairman, Sunday Sabiyyi, refuted the claims, labeling them as baseless and defamatory, urging union members and the public to dismiss the accusations as “unfounded blackmail.”
The Labour Ministry’s letter, dated October 25, 2024, has formally requested the attendance of all parties involved in the ongoing dispute, marking a significant step in addressing the allegations through official channels.
