Senator John Owan Enoh, the Honourable Minister of Sports Development, has expressed profound admiration for the extraordinary talent showcased at the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba.

Senator Enoh commended the young athletes, noting the exceptional potential emerging from this year’s event. He highlighted that the true highlight of the games is not only the medals won but the remarkable discovery of raw talent across various sports.

“It is amazing to see the incredible talents emerging in this youth competition. The real highlight this year isn’t just the medals being won but the remarkable discovery of raw talents across different sports,” Senator Enoh remarked.

Among the standout performers is Isabella Inmi Ojo Ichado, Nigeria’s youngest female chess player. At just 8 years old, Ichado, representing Kogi State, has shown exceptional skill in chess, a passion she developed at the age of 3 with the support of her father, a chess coach.

Senator Enoh praised Ichado’s accomplishments, emphasizing the importance of nurturing and supporting young talent from an early age.

“Young athletes like Isabella are proof of the immense potential in our country. She is an inspiration, not only for her skill but also for her dedication to the game at such a young age. We are proud of her and other rising stars who are emerging through this platform,” he stated.

The Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to advancing grassroots sports and ensuring that events like the National Youth Games continue to serve as platforms for discovering and developing future national champions.

The National Youth Games, which brings together thousands of young athletes from across Nigeria, has once again demonstrated its role in fostering sportsmanship, teamwork, and competitive spirit. This year’s edition has already highlighted numerous promising talents with the potential to represent Nigeria on the global stage.
