Former Super Eagles star JOHN OBI MIKEL has disclosed that VICTOR OSIMHEN was determined to join CHELSEA on transfer deadline day, but the move fell through due to failed personal terms.
CHELSEA was close to finalizing a loan deal for OSIMHEN, but they couldn’t reach an agreement before the transfer window closed on AUGUST 30. Subsequently, OSIMHEN completed a move to TURKISH club GALATASARAY a few days later.
In an interview on THE OBI ONE PODCAST, MIKEL revealed, “He really wanted to come to the club and was disappointed it didn’t happen. I spoke to him as soon as the transfer window shut. We talked for about 20 minutes, and I reassured him that I’m always here for him.”
MIKEL encouraged OSIMHEN to stay focused and continue working hard despite the setback. “It’s not the best situation right now, but I know he is strong,” MIKEL added.
OSIMHEN, who recently scored his first goal of the season in a 3-0 win against BENIN REPUBLIC, will be looking to make an impact for the SUPER EAGLES in their upcoming match against RWANDA.
