“Michael Owen Doubts Zidane’s Interest in Manchester United Job, Tips Thomas Tuchel as Potential Successor to Erik ten Hag

As speculation swirls around Erik ten Hag’s future at Manchester United, former footballer Michael Owen has cast doubt on Zinedine Zidane’s likelihood of considering the managerial role at Old Trafford. Instead, Owen suggests that Thomas Tuchel, currently at Chelsea, could be a strong contender to replace ten Hag.

Ten Hag finds himself under scrutiny after a challenging season for Man United, currently sitting eighth in the Premier League and vying for European qualification. With a crucial FA Cup final against Manchester City on the horizon, rumours persist regarding ten Hag’s potential departure, irrespective of the outcome.

While various names, including Zidane, Tuchel, Gareth Southgate, Roberto De Zerbi, Kieran McKenna, and Graham Potter, have been linked to the Manchester United job, Owen believes Tuchel stands out, depending on Bayern Munich’s decisions about his future.

Owen commented, “Zidane doesn’t speak much English so I’m not sure Man Utd would be on his radar personally. I would be very surprised.” Regarding Tuchel, he added, “Tuchel would be an interesting one. If Bayern won the Champions League, could there be a U-turn?”

Despite the uncertainty, Owen doesn’t rule out the possibility of Gareth Southgate or Graham Potter taking the helm at Old Trafford, acknowledging their impressive credentials. He also highlights Potter’s success in a challenging role at Brighton, suggesting he shouldn’t be overlooked.

As the managerial carousel continues, the future at Manchester United remains uncertain, with Tuchel emerging as a frontrunner should he become available.”
