Mrs. Ewa Orowale, Chief Operations Officer of the Mentoring Assistance for Youths and Entrepreneurs Initiative (MAYEIN), reported that 15.3 million out of the 50 million girls enrolled in school globally between 2015 and 2023 are now out of school in Nigeria. Presenting her findings on the challenges facing girls’ education in Oyo State, she urged the government to address security breaches in public schools caused by violent cult clashes, which disrupt learning and endanger schoolgirls. Orowale highlighted the connection between gang activities, drug use, and the risks these pose to students’ safety, attendance, and educational outcomes.
