Dr. Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, has called on Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, to identify and prosecute those responsible for the killing of Alhaji Isa Bawa, the District Head of Gatawa in Sokoto State.
In a statement issued on August 23, 2024, Matawalle strongly condemned the murder of Bawa, describing it as a heinous and unacceptable act. He urged an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident and stressed that the perpetrators must be held accountable.
Matawalle highlighted that President Bola Tinubu prioritizes security and has provided full support to the military in addressing such crimes. He reassured the public that the Armed Forces of Nigeria are committed to finding those responsible and ensuring justice.
The minister extended his condolences to Bawa’s family, the people of Gatawa, and the Sokoto State Government. According to reports, Bawa was abducted along with his son while returning from Sokoto and was killed by his captors 26 days later.
