Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is set to significantly reduce his squad size as he prepares for his first season at Stamford Bridge. With Chelsea having amassed a large roster of over 50 senior players, Maresca aims to trim the squad to around 23 or 24 outfield players.
The move comes after a busy summer for Chelsea, where they signed 12 new players, including a £54 million deal for Neto from Wolves. This influx of new signings has brought Chelsea’s total expenditure to £243 million since June 14.
To achieve this reduction, Chelsea are considering offloading several players either through permanent transfers or loan deals. The goal is to streamline the squad for more effective management and tactical coherence.
