Real Madrid and Brazilian legend Marcelo has confidently predicted the winner of the 2024 Ballon d’Or. According to Marcelo, Vinicius Jr. is the clear favourite to claim the prestigious award.
The 30-man shortlist for this year’s Ballon d’Or, announced last week, features notable players such as Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman, Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham, and Manchester City’s Rodri. Despite the strong competition, Marcelo believes Vinicius Jr. will emerge as the winner.
Marcelo spoke to MadridXtra, saying, “Ballon d’Or? I think they will definitely give it to Vinícius Jr. Carvajal, Bellingham, and Kroos played very well too.”
Real Madrid’s outstanding 2023-24 season has resulted in seven of their players making the shortlist, including Vinicius Jr., Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe, and Dani Carvajal.
Current Ballon d’Or holder Lionel Messi, with his record-breaking eight awards, will face competition from Vinicius Jr. and others. The winner will be announced in October.
