Manchester City player Matheus Nunes has reportedly been apprehended by the National Police in Madrid for allegedly stealing a phone from a 58-year-old man. The incident occurred in the bathroom of La Riviera nightclub while Nunes was on international duty with Portugal, though he was not selected to play.

According to Spanish outlet El Mundo, the 26-year-old midfielder was arrested on Sunday, September 8, around 5:30 a.m. after the phone was found in his hotel room. Reports suggest the situation escalated after the man attempted to photograph Nunes without his consent, which led to a confrontation.

Witnesses claim that the man made physical contact with Nunes while holding the phone, causing a misunderstanding that sparked Nunes’ angry response.

Nunes was briefly held in custody before being granted bail. He is now awaiting trial, although the trial date has not yet been set.

So far this season, Nunes has made three Premier League appearances for Manchester City under Pep Guardiola and six across all competitions, scoring one goal.
