Manchester City have announced that defender Luke Mbete has been loaned out to League One side Northampton Town for the entire 2024/25 season. This move comes just ahead of Manchester City’s Premier League opener against Chelsea this weekend.

The 20-year-old will spend the season with Northampton Town, aiming to gain more first-team experience.
Mbete, who joined Manchester City as an Under-12 player, signed scholarship terms in July 2020 and progressed to the Elite Development Squad.
He made his senior debut for Manchester City in a 6-1 Carabao Cup victory over Wycombe Wanderers in September 2021.
During the 2021/22 season, Mbete made two further senior appearances: one in a 4-1 FA Cup win against Swindon Town and another in a 0-0 draw with Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League Round of 16.

Manchester City expressed their best wishes for Mbete in his loan spell and hope the experience will aid his development.
