Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has refuted President Bola Tinubu’s claim that the Federal Government allocated ₦570 billion to the 36 states of the Federation.
In a newsletter published on the Oyo State official website, Makinde clarified that the funds in question were World Bank COVID-19 recovery resources, not direct federal allocations. He explained that these funds were essentially reimbursements from the World Bank for expenses states incurred during the pandemic, rather than new financial support from the Federal Government. Makinde emphasized that Tinubu’s statement was a misrepresentation of the facts.
