Mr Eazi has responded humorously to reports claiming that Nigerian singer Tekno collapsed during a show in South Africa. The rumors began circulating after a TikTok video went viral, showing an unconscious individual surrounded by people trying to assist.
The video, which seemed to be filmed at a concert, was captioned with the misleading statement, “Tekno collapsed in South Africa during his tour.” This misinformation quickly spread across social media and some media outlets, causing concern among fans.
In response, Mr Eazi took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to debunk the claims, writing, “Lmao Tekno wey Malabo,” indicating in pidgin English that Tekno was actually in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, not South Africa.
An X user further clarified the situation, stating that the person in the video was not Tekno but rather Prezzo, a Kenyan rapper and former contestant on Big Brother Africa. The user criticized the spread of fake news and urged others to verify information before sharing.
Fans of Tekno, reassured by Mr Eazi’s update, expressed their relief. One fan tweeted, “Good, thank God, cuss I was worried,” while another added, “Thank Master Jesus!!!!!!!!!”
As of now, Tekno and his team have not officially commented on the rumors, choosing to ignore the false report.
