A bold new initiative aimed at addressing Nigeria’s pressing social challenges has been launched with the unveiling of the Foundation for Restoring Civic Values, Equality, and Education (FREE). The event saw the attendance of influential activists, leaders, and community organizers, all united in their commitment to national transformation.

Vision and Goals

The foundation’s convener, Dr. Moses Paul, presented a comprehensive roadmap for rebuilding Nigeria through civic responsibility, equality, and education. He emphasized that FREE is positioned to be a pivotal force in effecting positive change in the country. Dr. Paul stated, “Our goal is to empower individuals and communities, enhancing lives by promoting civic values, fostering equality, improving mental health, and advancing education.”

Advocacy for Civic Values and Education

Renowned poet and thought leader, Dike Chukwumerije, spoke at the event, highlighting the foundation’s mission to restore civic values and advocate for education and equality in Nigeria. He noted, “We’re here for the unveiling of the FREE Nigeria Foundation. It’s a foundation that is catered to the restoration of civic values, advocating for education and equality in Nigeria.”

Chukwumerije underscored the importance of articulating the essence of what it means to be Nigerian, stating that the foundation aims to inspire citizens to uphold the ideals of the nation.

Focus on Mental Health and Healthcare

Ndidi Mbagwu, the Director of Finance, Partnerships, and Mental Programs, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to restoring lost civic values and addressing the healthcare challenges in Nigeria. She expressed her passion for mental health, saying, “A country that has no healthcare systems has nothing. I am very much interested in health, especially mental health.”

Mbagwu highlighted the critical need for improved healthcare infrastructure and the role it plays in the overall well-being of the population. She reiterated the foundation’s goal of helping the people understand the necessary steps for Nigeria to progress.

The launch of the Foundation for Restoring Civic Values, Equality, and Education marks a significant step towards addressing the social issues facing Nigeria.
