The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has dismissed six officers following disciplinary action taken by the Lagos State Civil Service Commission (CSC) for various acts of misconduct. The termination was based on recommendations from the Personnel Management Board, adhering to civil service rules and regulations. Formal dismissal notices were issued to the officers at LASTMA’s Headquarters in Oshodi.

Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the General Manager of LASTMA, confirmed the action through Adebayo Taofiq, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment. Bakare-Oki emphasized the agency’s commitment to maintaining discipline and improving operations, urging Lagos residents to report officer misconduct with supporting evidence.

“This is part of an ongoing effort to purge the agency of errant officers,” Bakare-Oki stated, adding that additional sessions of the Personnel Management Board would soon address more implicated officials.

He reminded road users to strictly follow traffic laws, warning that violators would face penalties, including fines issued by Lagos Mobile Courts. Bakare-Oki also reiterated the importance of traffic law adherence to support Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s “Greater Lagos” vision, particularly the traffic management pillar of the THEMES Plus development agenda.

LASTMA reassured the public that complaints would be handled fairly, and encouraged the public to use the toll-free hotline (080000527862) or the Walk-In Complaint Centre at their Oshodi headquarters for any issues. Bakare-Oki also emphasized motorists’ responsibility to comply with the State Transportation Sector Reform Law of 2018 and assured the protection of civil rights on Lagos roads.
