The Lagos State government is set to initiate trial proceedings regarding the death of superstar rapper Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as MohBad, one year after his passing.

During a press briefing on Monday, the Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro (SAN), addressed the delays in the investigation. He emphasized that thorough forensic and toxicology analyses were necessary for the case, stating, “There has been a delay…but as far as criminal offences are concerned, there is no statute of limitations.”

Pedro highlighted the importance of conducting a comprehensive investigation before proceeding to court to ensure a solid case. He noted that while some have complained about the delays, a rushed trial could lead to acquittals due to incomplete investigations.

He confirmed that the toxicology report from the United States has been received and is currently with the coroner. The family of MohBad has also requested to conduct their own independent forensic analysis, but Pedro believes this should not hinder the legal process now that the report is available.

“We are very sure if the legal advice was not out last week, it should be out this week,” he added, assuring that those responsible will be prosecuted based on the evidence collected.
