Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe has been sidelined with a thigh injury, as confirmed by the club on Wednesday. The French superstar was substituted during Tuesday’s 3-2 victory over Alaves, indicating discomfort that led to medical evaluations.
According to Spanish media reports, Mbappe is expected to be out for approximately three weeks. Following tests, Real Madrid’s medical team diagnosed him with an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg.
Mbappe had a standout performance in the match against Alaves, scoring a remarkable goal and bringing his season total to five goals in seven league appearances. After the game, coach Carlo Ancelotti mentioned, “He’s fine, he’s fine, a little overloaded; he asked me for the change to avoid problems.”
The injury comes as Real Madrid prepares to face rivals Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano Stadium this Sunday. Madrid currently trails leaders Barcelona by one point, and this derby is crucial for their title ambitions.
Additionally, Mbappe is set to miss next week’s Champions League match against Lille and may also be unavailable for France’s Nations League fixtures against Israel and Belgium in October.
The 25-year-old joined Real Madrid this summer after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired, fulfilling a long-held dream of playing for the Spanish giants.
