Veteran Nigerian singer Konga has called out Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy for allegedly borrowing his lines and rhythm in some of his songs. In a TikTok video message, Konga specifically mentioned Burna Boy’s collaboration with Asake on the “Sungba Remix,” where Burna reportedly name-dropped him. He also pointed out similarities between Burna Boy’s new release, “Update,” and his own music, claiming that Burna used some of his lines and rhythm.
While acknowledging that he appreciates Burna Boy’s use of his craft, Konga requested that Burna compensate him by featuring on the remix of Konga’s song “Kabakaba Remix.” He expressed his desire to see Burna Boy and Tiwa Savage on the remix, adding that he was making the call in peace and would be expecting Burna Boy’s feedback.
This move highlights Konga’s recognition of Burna Boy’s influence but also his call for recognition and collaboration in return.
