Musa Kida, President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), recently highlighted a key factor behind D’Tigress’ impressive performance at the 2024 Olympic Games. The Nigerian women’s basketball team achieved a historic milestone by advancing to the quarter-finals and defeating strong teams like Australia and Canada in the group stage.
Kida emphasized that a crucial element in the team’s success was ensuring that the NBBF board members did not influence the selection of players. He explained that while board members can suggest players and offer recommendations, the final decision on team selection rests with the head coach, Rena Wakama, and the technical crew. This separation of influence helped maintain a focused and effective approach to building the team, contributing to their historic performance at the Olympics.
