“Kenneth Okonkwo Denounces Julius Abure-led Labour Party NWC Amid Party Crisis”

Nollywood actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo has publicly distanced himself from the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party (LP) led by Julius Abure. Okonkwo cited reasons of corruption and incompetence for his decision to sever ties with the Abure-led NWC.

In a statement posted on X, Okonkwo strongly criticized the national convention organized by Abure, labeling it as rife with criminality and corruption. He expressed his refusal to be associated with a leadership he perceives as corrupt and incompetent, emphasizing his commitment to integrity and doing what is right.

Okonkwo emphasized his decision to leave the comfort of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) due to his belief in the party’s incompetence and dishonesty. He stated his unwillingness to join another organization that he perceives as similarly incompetent and corrupt, referring to the current leadership of the Labour Party under Abure.

Okonkwo’s stance contrasts with the endorsement of the Abure-led NWC by the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, highlighting the internal divisions within the Labour Party amidst the crisis.
