Nollywood actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo has declared the suspension of his association with the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee of the Labour Party (LP). His decision stems from his commitment to prioritizing a new Nigeria, even if it means sacrificing victory for integrity.
Okonkwo, who served as the spokesperson for the Labour Party Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council in the 2023 elections, voiced his discontent via his X account on Tuesday. He likened the current leadership under Abure to the same incompetence and corruption he sought to distance himself from when he left the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In his post, he denounced the recent national convention organized by Abure as rife with criminality and corruption. His statement underscored a firm stance on upholding ethical standards, stating, “I prefer to lose doing the right thing than win doing the wrong thing.”
Okonkwo emphasized his disillusionment by highlighting his departure from the ruling APC due to perceived incompetence and dishonesty, only to encounter similar shortcomings within the current Abure-led National Working Committee of the Labour Party.
