Katsina State has achieved over ₦1.85 billion in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for July, marking a significant increase thanks to the introduction of a central billing system.

Alhaji Isyaku Mohammed, Executive Chairman of the Katsina State Internal Revenue Service, attributed this success to the new central billing platform aimed at enhancing revenue collection efficiency. Mohammed noted that IGR previously ranged between ₦700 million and ₦800 million before he assumed office in November 2023, but saw a substantial rise to over ₦1.85 billion in July.

The central billing system, introduced in June, is the first of its kind since Katsina’s creation in 1987. It was implemented to minimize revenue leakage and simplify payment processes. This system allows taxpayers to pay their taxes or fees conveniently using a Tax Identification Number (TIN), receiving an instant receipt.

Mohammed also highlighted the public enlightenment campaign as a key factor in the system’s success, emphasizing its role in reducing revenue diversion and improving overall IGR collection.
