Operatives of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) have successfully intercepted a vehicle carrying a large cache of ammunition in Batsari Local Government Area, Katsina State.

Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, reported that the operation took place on Tuesday at around 7:30 PM in Batsari town. Acting on intelligence, KSCWC members stopped a commercial vehicle with the plate number BTR 45 XA. Upon inspection, they discovered a significant amount of ammunition hidden under a seat, including 610 rounds of ammunition for AK-47 and General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) rifles, as well as two magazines.

A suspicious individual, described as wearing white voile clothes, was identified as the person responsible for concealing the ammunition. However, the suspect managed to evade capture during the operation. Mu’azu noted, “The suspect initially insisted on sitting at the rear of the vehicle and appeared visibly uncomfortable and anxious. When the vehicle was stopped for inspection, the suspect managed to evade capture, leaving behind the concealed ammunition.”

The Katsina State Government has praised the Community Watch Corps for their vigilance and dedication to maintaining peace and security in the state. Governor Dikko Radda emphasized his administration’s commitment to supporting and enhancing the capabilities of security agencies to combat all forms of criminality in the state.
