Kano State Governor, Abba Kabiru Yusuf, is poised to unveil a new minimum wage structure for state workers following the submission of a report by the Minimum Wage Committee.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of civil servants in a statement released by his spokesman, Sanusi Bature, on Tuesday.
The committee, chaired by Usman Bala, Special Adviser to the Governor on State Affairs, was tasked with reviewing and recommending enhancements to the state’s minimum wage framework.
Governor Yusuf emphasized that the committee’s recommendations are crucial for implementing economically viable and sustainable policies. He stated, “We believe in their ability to provide valuable insights and innovative ideas for moving forward.”
He reassured civil servants of his administration’s dedication to fulfilling campaign promises related to their welfare and urged patience as the government thoroughly reviews the committee’s findings to ensure compliance with constitutional guidelines.
The governor announced that the final decision regarding the report will be made public next week and requested understanding from all stakeholders as the process progresses.
Committee Chairman Usman Bala noted that the recommendations were developed with careful consideration of Kano’s current economic conditions, expressing confidence that the proposed wage structure would be both sustainable and beneficial for the financial stability of civil servants.
