“The Kano State Emirate Councils Amendment Bill passed its first reading at the House of Assembly on Tuesday. Majority Leader Lawan Hussaini (Dala-NNPP) introduced a motion of urgent public importance during the plenary session in Kano, with the aim of advancing the state’s progress. The motion was seconded by Shu’aibu Rabi’u (Dawakin-Kudu-NNPP).

The bill, which was previously amended in 2019, resulted in the creation of four additional emirate councils, thereby increasing the number of first-class emirs in Kano to five.”
