The APC chairman has criticized Dr. Rabi’u Kwankwaso, a leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), for condemning the Federal Government’s approach to distributing palliatives.
In a recent statement, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, APC Chairman, accused the NNPP government in Kano of obstructing the Federal Government’s efforts to alleviate hunger. Abbas claimed that while President Bola Tinubu had approved numerous palliative measures for vulnerable individuals, there were allegations of resource diversion by those responsible for distribution.
Abbas highlighted specific cases, including allegations against Dr. Tukur Dayyabu Minjibir, Managing Director of the State Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO), who was reportedly selling government grains. He also mentioned the arrest of Senior Special Assistant to the Cabinet Office, Tasi’u Al’Amin Roba, for allegedly diverting palliatives.
The APC Chairman has called on Kwankwaso to direct his chosen governor, Abba Yusuf, to investigate these allegations thoroughly and ensure accountability and prosecution for those involved.
Abbas criticized Kwankwaso for suggesting that the palliative distribution was exclusively managed by the APC. He pointed out that the Federal Government’s committee included members from various political parties, including NNPP, PDP, and IPAC, to ensure transparency and prevent diversion.
He also defended the reappointment of Directors of the Department of State Services, stating it was a strategic decision by Tinubu to ensure competent leadership in security agencies.
Abbas noted that during the two-term administration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, Kano remained relatively peaceful. He attributed the current insecurity to the NNPP government, alleging it has supported violent youth groups.
