The Police Command in Kaduna State has arrested two suspects involved in vandalizing air-conditioning units in government properties. ASP Mansir Hassan, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed this development to the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday.
On September 21, Ibrahim Yusuf, the Registrar of Kaduna State High Court, reported that an individual posing as a technician from the Chief Judge’s office entered the court complex under the pretense of repairing air-conditioners. Instead, he vandalized and removed all the units from the complex.
Hassan noted that suspicions arose when it was discovered that the individual had no authorization. Investigations revealed that similar incidents occurred at the Barnawa court complex and the Upper Shari’a Court in Tudun Wada, Kaduna.
During the investigation, police detained Salim Sani, a suspect from Hayin Banki, who confessed to the offenses. This led to the discovery of eight 1.5 horsepower split AC units at the shop of another suspect, Moses Adekunle, also from Hayin Banki.
Hassan stated that all ACs had been removed from the Ibrahim Taiwo Road court complex, and investigations are ongoing. Once completed, all connected suspects will be charged in court.
