The Kaduna State Police Command has reported the detention of one suspected kidnapper and five notorious armed robbers, with one robber neutralized during recent operations.
ASP Mansir Hassan, the command’s spokesperson, issued a statement on Thursday confirming the developments. On Tuesday, operatives from Operation Fushi Kada, led by their Commander, conducted an operation based on credible intelligence along the Karji/Sabon Tasha axis of the state.
During the operation, the armed robbers engaged the police in a fierce gun battle. The superior firepower of the police led to the detention of five suspects. One suspect, Christopher Bobai, also known as “Baban Dodo,” sustained severe injuries while attempting to flee and was later pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
The detained suspects include Gideon Martins, Joy Gideon (female), Joshua Gama, Umar Usman, and Bashir Yusuf. All five have confessed to their crimes and are assisting the police in locating other gang members still at large.
Recovered from the suspects were several items including one English-made pistol, one locally-made pistol, a Nigerian Army camouflage uniform, three cutlasses, four pairs of jungle boots, six SIM cards, two sets of black uniforms, and two jungle caps.
Additionally, on Wednesday, police operatives apprehended a suspected kidnapper, Saidu Inusa, also known as “Haske,” from Burinta in Bishini Ward, Kachia Local Government Area. Inusa confessed to participating in multiple kidnapping operations across the state, and an AK-47 rifle was recovered from him during the arrest.
