The Kaduna State Police Command has detained two cattle rustlers, two notorious gunrunners, and three kidnappers. The operatives also foiled a kidnapping attempt and recovered a fabricated AK-47 rifle with ammunition.
According to a statement from the command’s spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, the operation took place following credible intelligence reports. On Thursday, the police raided a hideout used by a syndicate involved in cattle rustling in the Kasuwa Magani area of Kujama, Kaduna. Two suspects, Aminu Saleh, 25, and Jafar Ibrahim, 24, were apprehended. They confessed to their involvement and revealed the identities of four other members of their syndicate who remain at large.
On the same day, Shafiu Abdullahi reported threats to his life, including a demand for ₦10 million in ransom. The Tracking and Response Team used advanced techniques to locate and arrest the suspects, identified as Umar Baso, Shehu Filani, and Babangida Abdulkarim, from Soba and Kajuru Local Government Areas.
Additionally, on Saturday, two suspects, Dahiru Liman, 47, from Garin Kurama village, Lere LGA, Kaduna State, and Sani Abdullahi Makeri, 45, from Kankara LGA, Katsina State, were arrested for supplying arms and ammunition to kidnappers in Kaduna, Katsina, and Zamfara States. The operatives recovered a fabricated AK-47 rifle and five rounds of 9mm live ammunition.
The Commissioner of Police, Audu Dabigi, has urged the public to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities to support ongoing efforts to maintain security and dismantle criminal networks across the state.
