The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State has refuted claims that it is boycotting the local government elections scheduled for Saturday. The state PDP Chairman, Mr. Edward Marsha, addressed the media in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area, to clarify the situation.

“It is not true that we are boycotting today’s local government elections. Those false reports never came from my office,” Marsha stated. He accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of spreading misinformation to create confusion among voters.

Marsha expressed concerns regarding the electoral process, revealing that while party agents were inspecting sensitive materials at the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIECOM) office in Kaduna, they found that result sheets were missing. He labeled this an “anomaly” and reiterated alarms he had raised previously about potential manipulations in the announcement of election results.

He urged party members to stay calm and conduct themselves peacefully, emphasizing the importance of participating in the elections. “We call on our members to come out en masse to exercise their franchise and avoid acts capable of breaching the peace,” he said.

An anonymous official at the SIECOM office in Kafanchan confirmed that while ballot papers had been received, they were still awaiting the arrival of the result sheets from Kaduna.
