The Julius Agenmonmen Foundation (JAF) recently conducted its inaugural medical outreach in two communities: Ubulu-Uku in Delta State and Uromi in Edo State. The outreach took place from September 13 to 17 in partnership with Zuri Health, providing essential healthcare services to over 2,000 community members. Services offered included dental and eye care, laboratory tests, general consultations, and pharmacy services.

This initiative marks a significant advancement in improving healthcare access for underserved communities in Nigeria.

Dr. Uche Agenmonmen, co-founder of JAF, emphasized the importance of reaching those without access to quality healthcare. She stated, “We are focusing on eye care to ensure that people enjoy good vision throughout their lifetime. It’s one of the key measures we are taking to prevent blindness in these communities.”

Founded by Julius Agenmonmen and his spouse, Dr. Uche Agenmonmen, JAF is a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing healthcare needs in underserved areas across Nigeria. The foundation’s commitment to healthcare was solidified by a pledge made by Julius during his 60th birthday celebration, which included donating state-of-the-art eye diagnostic equipment to St. Camillus Hospital in Uromi, Edo State, in April 2023. This hospital holds personal significance for Julius, as it was where he received treatment, creating a full-circle moment in his journey of giving back.

Since the donation, over 1,000 patients have received treatment, greatly enhancing access to eye care for the Esan community and its surroundings.

Reflecting on the foundation’s mission, Julius stated, “Last year, my wife and I established the Julius Agenmonmen Foundation as a way of giving back. Having faced my health challenges, I was fortunate enough to have the resources to take care of them. We wanted to express our gratitude to God, and we felt the best way to do that was by helping the underserved and less privileged in our society.”

The medical outreach signifies a milestone in JAF’s ongoing mission to expand access to quality healthcare for those in need. The foundation remains dedicated to broadening its impact, ensuring that more individuals benefit from accessible, high-quality healthcare services.
