American actor and professional wrestler John Cena has opened up about his decision to remain child-free. In a recent interview on the Club Shay Shay show, Cena, now 47, discussed why he and his wife have chosen not to have children.
Cena shared that he decided against having kids at the age of 15 and has maintained that stance into adulthood. He explained that while societal norms often emphasize reproduction, he believes his nature and personal inclinations do not align with the demands of parenting.
He stated, “I have a certain curiosity about life and I understand the investment required to be a great parent. My biggest fear is that, being someone who is driven and sometimes stubborn and selfish, I would struggle to give the time and commitment needed for effective parenting.”
Cena emphasized that he and his wife have had open discussions about this choice and are on the same page. He reflected on the societal pressures and judgment that often accompany such personal decisions but maintained that their choice allows them to focus on their passions and shared values.
He concluded, “It’s a tough subject to talk about because it places you in a specific category and invites judgment. I’ve thought long and hard about this decision since I was 15 or 16, and it’s a path I’m committed to.”
