Three-time Grand Slam runner-up, Ons Jabeur, has been struggling with form and fitness this year, causing her to slip to 22nd in the world rankings. After missing the recent US Open due to a lingering shoulder injury, Jabeur has not played since her heavy defeat to Naomi Osaka in early August in Toronto.
In a social media post, Jabeur expressed how challenging this year has been, stating, “As athletes, we know that recovery is part of the journey.” She confirmed that due to her ongoing shoulder injury, she and her medical team have decided to step away from the tennis circuit for the remainder of the 2024 season.
The 30-year-old Tunisian star plans to return to competition at the start of the 2025 season, beginning with the Australian campaign.
