Atalanta’s Nigerian forward, Ademola Lookman, has been likened to Udinese legend Antonio Di Natale by Italian manager Cesare Prandelli. Lookman, who has been in remarkable form for both club and country, has caught the attention of the football world, particularly after his hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League.
Lookman has continued his impressive run this season, contributing to six goals in six matches across Serie A and the Champions League. Prandelli, known for his managerial stints with clubs like Fiorentina and Atalanta in the early 90s, made the comparison between Lookman and Di Natale, praising the Nigerian’s ability to not only score but also create opportunities for his team.
“Lookman reminds me of Di Natale,” Prandelli said. “He has stamina, devastating counterattacks, and always heads for the goal. His dribbles are never pointless, but aimed at attacking the area.”
The comparison is a huge compliment, as Di Natale was celebrated for his skillful and intelligent play. Prandelli also credited Atalanta’s coach, Gian Piero Gasperini, for helping Lookman reach new heights in his career.
Lookman, a key player for the Super Eagles, continues to replicate his club form at the international level, having scored twice to secure a win for Nigeria against Benin Republic. He is expected to play a vital role in Nigeria’s upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Libya.
