“it is impossible to console PSG players” – Luis Enrique says following UCL exit
Paris Saint-Germain’s dream of reaching the UEFA Champions League final was shattered on Tuesday night, following Borussia Dortmund win.
The defeat left manager Luis Enrique grappling with the task of comforting his devastated players.
Despite their confidence heading into the second leg against Borussia Dortmund, PSG failed to overturn the one-goal shortfall from the first leg.
With missed opportunities haunting them, including hitting the post four times, PSG suffered a 2-0 aggregate defeat, ending their Champions League campaign.
In the post-match press conference, Luis Enrique revealed it was challenging to console his distraught players.
“I spoke individually with every player and I tried to boost their morale but it’s impossible to console players that have lost a Champions League semi-final at home. There is a lot of hurt. That is sport.”
While PSG secured the Ligue 1 title, the disappointment of their Champions League exit has put them in a challenging state.
Luis Enrique now faces the task of rallying his team for the upcoming Coupe de France final, seeking to lift their spirits and end the season on a high note.
