Israel has launched a series of attacks on Beirut, Lebanon, targeting what it described as terrorist sites. The Israeli army announced the strikes via social media platform X and issued evacuation orders for residents in several buildings in Beirut’s southern suburbs during the early hours of Wednesday.
As of now, there have been no reports of casualties or damage resulting from the attacks. The Israeli strikes followed a massive missile attack by Iran on Israel, which reportedly involved around 180 rockets fired in retaliation for the killings of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Iran threatened to carry out devastating attacks if Israel responded to their missile barrage.
This escalation comes just hours after the Israel Defense Forces initiated a localized ground operation against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. The ongoing conflicts and retaliations have raised concerns about the potential for a broader regional war.
